Hotter temperatures outside call for a light and airier refresh inside! If you’re looking to welcome a fun summer vibe into your home, but don’t want to drop a lot of cash in the process, I’ve got some great news: A few simple décor swaps can make a huge difference!
Cool Bedding
As we welcome some serious heat outdoors, it’s time to say goodbye to that super comfortable yet way-too-heavy bedding that kept you cozy through the harsh winter months. Start by stripping off the sheets and replacing them with something more lightweight. Look for sheets made with cooling technology, and opt for fabrics that have superior moisture-wicking properties, like linen and light cotton. Then, move onto your comforter. Along with a lighter fabric that won’t trigger night sweats, look into lighter colors that scream: SUMMER IS HERE!
Refreshing Candles / Diffusers
One of the easiest ways to make a room feel more inviting is to add candles or diffusers. But, if you’re still displaying scents that resemble drooly holiday cookies and the oh-so-popular pumpkin spice latte then it’s time to invest in a new collection. Try fresher fragrances, like citrus, lavender, sea breeze, and cotton.
A Pop of Color with Flowers & Plants
Fresh flower arrangements filled with bright hues and gorgeous green potted plants bring a nice touch to any room!
Change the Pictures in Your Frames
Do you have family photos hanging around your house? If so, when was the last time you changed the pictures inside? If you’re showcasing your loved ones wrapped in coats and dressed in bulky sweaters, consider a summer refresh with more current, warm-weather snaps.
Swap Out Bath & Hand Towels
Changing out the towels in your bathrooms is an easy way to transform the entire feel. If you hung dark towels during the wintertime, consider putting those away and swapping them for a lighter look. I’m also a huge fan of monogrammed towels!
Fresh Plates, Serveware, and Glasses
Summertime is the perfect time for outdoor entertaining and I always love to add a few new, colorful melamine dishes to my collection. In case you aren’t familiar, melamine sort of looks like porcelain, but it’s super durable and shatter-resistant. Grab a nice set for summer and invite some friends over for a backyard BBQ!
