We first have to be skilled in the rules, and become strong in them, in order to bend. The same principles apply to cooking and to life.
While teaching my students how to bend,
I came to understand that strength is
the of flexibility.
As women, we juggle so many different responsibilities and obligations on a daily basis, while also trying to do it all perfectly, oh…and judging ourselves for falling short. Which is such an exhausting and impossible way to live!
Trust me, I was starving for perfection even as a teen and eventually became overwhelmed by the intensity of my own life. After years of bouncing between extremes, I’d finally had enough. During my years of practicing and teaching yoga, I slowly discovered and adopted a gentler, more constructive path.
And now, I’m determined to help you
to experience that feeling for yourself…
I was later tested on my newfound flexible approach when I had a freak out in the kitchen while hosting a perfectly plated dinner for 15 guests in our home and my husband brought eight more surprise guests. Needless to say, things didn’t go according to plan and I didn’t have a choice BUT to be flexible. And guess what? Nothing bad happened - the dinner turned out just fine and I’d experienced a personal breakthrough.
Embracing flexibility opened a whole new world of possibilities. Without constantly needing to control and perfect everything, suddenly I discovered so much more ease, enjoyment, and fulfillment. It changed my life, and my family’s, too.
