Quick 10 Minute Dark Chocolate Covered Popcorn

Whether you’re laying on the couch watching a movie or peering up at the sky as the sun sets, popcorn is our chosen snack. The wholesome treat can be made many different ways depending on your taste preference: Cheesy, chocolatey, or spicy. Grab a popcorn popper—like my favorite, the  Whirley Pop™—and get popping my quick 10 minute dark chocolate covered popcorn!

What You Need

For this quick sweet treat, all you need are 3 ingredients! Popped popcorn, dark chocolate, and some sea salt! Next, spread your popped popcorn in one even layer on a lined sheet pan. I use wax paper or parchment paper for easy clean up. Then, drizzle your melted chocolate over the popcorn and immediately sprinkle with sea salt. Add some chopped nuts, sprinkles, or butterscotch chips for my butterscotch lovers out there. For a fan favorite, use up the rest of your butterscotch chips in this crowd pleasing breakfast recipe!

Dark Chocolate Covered Popcorn


  • 1 bag high-quality dark chocolate
  • Popcorn
  • Sea salt, to taste


  1. Melt one bag of dark chocolate chips in a double boiler. 

  2. As the chocolate melts, spread popped popcorn onto a baking sheet. 

  3. Drizzle desired amount of melted chocolate onto popcorn with a spoon. 

  4. Sprinkle a pinch or two of sea salt on top of the chocolate covered popcorn to enhance the flavor. 

  5. Refrigerate until the chocolate sets and then serve.
