It’s my birthday month, which means one thing: I’m another year wiser! Age may be just a number, but every year, we go through new experiences and challenges that force us to grow and mature. As I look toward celebrating this next year in life, I wanted to take a moment to jot down and share my many lessons learned. Some of these may seem simple on the surface, but we often overlook the little things. So, let this list of practical life advice serve as a nice reminder to pause and enjoy your days.
- Spend some time in the sunshine
- Wear sunscreen, even in the rain
- Exfoliate
- Moisturize
- Rock your natural style and take a few days off makeup each week
- Meditate to relax your forehead muscles
- Delay Botox till your 40s
- Walk wherever you can
- Practice handstands and keep challenging your body
- Go upside down (to find balance and shift your perspective)
- Eat a ton of veggies
- Ditch the sugar as much as possible
- But splurge on sugar on occasion
- Keep company with younger friends, to keep you young
- Keep company with older friends, for perspective
- Keep company with people that lift you up
- Break up with friends that bring you down
- Schedule date night once a week to keep your marriage young
- Go out dancing every one in a while
- But get to bed early (now that’s a challenge)
- Read a book instead of watching a show before bed
- When you do watch movies, watch Disney movies! They’re good for the soul
- Listen to Disney songs, they’re just fun
- Stay curious
- Play
- Schedule in you-time like you would work time
- Remember that everything (the good and the bad) all passes. Keep perspective
- Stay hungry
- Remember that age is just a number
- LOVE YOURSELF
