With Valentine’s day around the corner, it’s time to show your family how much you care with a delicious and healthy heart shaped snack! These PB&J fruit sandwiches are mom approved for the health and ease factor and kid approved for the fun and the sprinkles!
You could get creative with infinite shapes year round and serve these snack-able bites for after-school treats or as a component of a fancy cheese board. Have fun with this project and happy V-day!
PB&J Heart Apple Slice
- 1 large apple (the largest you can find!)
- 1 liberal schmear natural peanut butter
- 1 small scoop your favorite red jam
- 1 squeeze orange or lemon juice
- sprinkles of your choice
Slice apple into thin layers. Shape each layer into hearts with large cookie-cutter. Get the smaller-heart shaped cookie cutter to pierce out a heart in the middle of a slice. Leave an extra slice as the bottom layer to hold the filling.
Spread the peanut butter on the bottom slice of the apple. Add a dollop of the jam in the middle and place the top layer of the apple slice.
Squeeze orange or lemon juice on the top of the apple slice. Immediately add sprinkles on top.
Repeat steps with remaining apple slices and enjoy!
