Crispy Baked Apple Chips

These baked apple chips are a simple, crispy snack with easy options for added flavors like cinnamon or apple pie spice for a tasty twist.

Ingredients

  • 4 small apples or 2 large apples

Instructions

  1. Core the Apples (Optional): If you’d like apple rings, use an apple corer to remove the core from each apple. For standard apple chips, you can skip this step.

  2. Slice the Apples: Using a mandoline, slice the apples into thin rounds about ⅛-inch thick, making sure to cut perpendicular to the core. This will result in slices with a hole in the center, creating apple rings.

  3. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the apple slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

  4. First Bake: Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 225°F (107°C) and bake for 90 minutes.

  5. Flip the Slices: Take the baking sheet out of the oven and carefully flip each apple slice. Return the sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes.

  6. Cool and Crisp: Crack the oven and allow the chips to cool for 1 hour. If you want them extra crispy extend the time for 1.5-2 hours.
