Marinara Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • Butter/oil for sautéing 
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed or whole tomatoes
  • 3-4 tablespoons tomato paste
  • Splash white wine

Instructions

  1. In a medium pot, sauté onions in butter or oil until translucent and fragrant

  2. Add garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes

  3. Add canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and wine

  4. Season with salt and pepper

  5. Simmer for a minimum of one hour, or until sauce reduces and thickens

Recipe Notes

FLEXIBLE FLIPS 

  • Add fresh basil, if you have on hand
  • Fold in sautéed veggies if you have to enhance flavor and nutrition 
  • Serve over pasta or roasted cauliflower and sprinkle with parmesan
